I returned safely from first jungle trip in Kampung Kechau in the Central Peninsular of Malaysia. It was the most wonderful experience, but I must admit I was initially a little concerned about how we would reach these people. I spent a good deal of time seeking God in prayer to lead me and guide me. One of the tribes, called the Baltek tribe, are aborigines who live deep in the jungle. They are nomadic and their settlement has around 100 people men, women and children.
We drove over 200 miles, and thank goodness we had a four wheel drive and a skilful driver. Once we left the main road we drove into the jungle through plantations, until we got onto dirt roads that had been cut into the clearing. We followed arrows painted on trees until we found the natives from the Orang-Asli tribe living in the Jungle.
Our team interpreted for me. The trip was a real breakthrough, especially as I had them saying the Lord’s Prayer for the first time. It was a real privilege to witness the Holy Spirit working there. They said that have never seen such a response from the children and the mothers.
We arrived and unloaded the rice, sugar, drinks and medical supplies we had brought, and gave them a pre-cooked rice meal. Many of the native people have Lots of them had skin problems and sores, and so Fiona looked after them by administering cream and cutting toe nails, meeting their needs practically.
As I ministered God’s love, the little faces changed and mothers came out of the huts to see what was happening. My team were surprised when I got the children together to say the Lord's Prayer with their hands together and eyes closed. Mothers joined in as well! We had many simple responses to the Gospel that meant so much as our relationship with them built through the day.
A memorable moment was when a brown bear cub appeared from a makeshift hammock in the roof of one of the huts. The Holy Spirit showed me how I could teach the creation story through him, and we ended up feeding it milk.
Before I left, I prayed for them individually and the Orang Asli people responded by holding their hands together which they had seen me do when I prayed the Lord’s Prayer earlier.

Hi Peter, Apologies for not being able to reply yr last email. Was really busy shifting office and house simultaneously the last week and finally almost done today. But praise the lord even thru these busy-ness we were able to go to the jungle Kecau10 village to have a Christmas celebration wth them on 21st Nov 09. About 20 of us went and Orang Asli members from another village joined in. Two great events happened on this trip: ONE: It was raining lightly throughout the day and because of that most of the men did not go into the deep jungle in search of food. So they were all there, about 50-60 people, to listen to the Cmas message and responded to the prayers! WE prepared a meal to have lunch together wth them. TWO: Because of the rain our 2 4-wheel-drive vehicles were not able to ascend up the steep slope as we were about to leave as the dirt road has become muddy and smooth as ice. We paryed and the Lord stopped the rain! But still it was not possible as the ground is totally drenched. At that very moment, as if the Lord wanted to show us that the Kecau people are already His, iwe suddenly saw the Lord's hand at work using these jungle villagers. One by one, the villagers came forward to help push the vehicles, one came with even a chainsaw to saw off obstructive logs, and a few even chipped off the slippery slope to make stairs for us to walk. Imagine the supernatural strength that God would have given them to push the two 4WDs up the slope inch by inch (you know how steep it is as you've been there, Peter). Praise God we made it after 2 hours! But what insptres me most thru this incident is the unity and willingness in the hearts of these wonderful people. It reinforces even more their readiness to receive Christ especially since you prayed with them THE LORD'S PRAYER Peter. I'll be goin again this Saturday. Do pray along. God bless you and family for your undying passion to reach out to the lost or Christ.
Dear Peter,
How have you been. We visited the Orang Asli village in Kg Kecau in Kuala Lipis last Friday 8th January 2010.
Pls find the attached pictures of our visit (Peniel Church: posted onto flickr) »
There are about 60 of them in the village at that time. We handed out rice, canned food, goodies and medicine besides praying for them. Most of these are gifts from individuals.
Since OUR CHURCH's ADOPTION of this village last year, we have seen tremendous blessings flowing into the village. Fresh clean water is now being connected to the village and The Jabatan Air is now in the midst of laying the pipes. We also had word that the governmrnt is planning to build 30 units of brick houses for them beginning March this year.
The people have also learnt to pray as they told us that they prayed to God for fine weather prior to our visit.
This is a tremendous breakthrough!
Praise Jesus for these blessings!
