Thea Soltau

Thea works as a freelance arts practitioner for her own company, Dunamis Kinetic Theatre.  Following 19 years in leadership for the Christian Dance Fellowship of Britain (and also the steering committee of the International Christian Dance Fellowship) she has recently stepped down to follow new and hopefully exciting roads in the arts for God.

Throughout her ministry she has worked all over the UK in addition to Europe, Bosnia and Croatia, US, South Africa performing, directing, teaching and leading dance theatre workshops.

A typical year for Thea includes working for Christian Artists in Holland, cre8.ed (providing creative Christian education around the UK), youth theatre direction and choreography, acting, role play, aerial work and Bollywood dance!
Thea is passionate about performing and her vision is to use the arts to take God to as many people as possible around the world.

Thea’s workshop

Relaxed, fun class. – Be prepared to have a laugh!

  • Street Dance (we’’ll learn a piece together)
  • Lyrical Street, together we’ll put street dance moves together with movements from everyday life to tell a story.
  • Throughout the week I’ll show you choreography skills to help you put your own dances together (if you have some dance moves bring them with you!)
  • If time allows we’ll have fun with a jazz number and put a fast-moving praise piece together.

Garold Andersen

Garold Andersen studied theater and performance art at the University of Houston as well as several private arts studios. Since 1980 he has worked on many film, stage, and television productions as director, actor, writer, or choreographer. He has created numerous plays, one-man-shows and performance art pieces.

Garold has been instrumental in establishing unique arts training and exchange programs such as the Summer Arts Session (89-91) and the Art Factory (96-98).

From the experimental traditions of Stanislavski’s method, biomechanics (Meyerhold technique) and Decroux, Andersen is constantly searching for the marriage of reality and physicality in his work. Garold is currently the President of Watershed Arts, an international organization committed to the development of art and the artist.

Garold’s workshop

  • Come with loose fitting clothing to move in and a loose inner attitude to play in.
  • The physical part of a character development. We’ll play around with body positions, stage presence, and physical communication skills.
  • Mime: almost hate to use this term because there are so many bad examples of mime work, but we’ll use it as a basis for establishing physical expression.
  • I’ll teach you some specific ‘mime’ pieces to work on.
  • Physical characters in a scene. We will work on scenes from the play “Godspell” and see what character types and interaction we can develop.

Liz Creighton

Liz is trained in many styles of dance and choreography.

She ran the dance school, Southampton Arts, for 15 years, offering professional training in various forms of dance including tap, jazz, modern and classical. Many of her students have gone on to join professional dance companies. One former student received a dance part in the recent film “Mama Mia.”

Providing a safe environment where one can learn to value oneself has been Liz’s aim. She has been able to encourage others to express and discover new possibility within themselves.

Liz strives to inspire creative worship, as her heart is to see people of all ages released to express their love for God through dance and movement.

Liz’s Workshop

If you feel you would like to kick off your shoes and have a go at dancing, then this is the workshop for you.

  • Classes will include modern style technique, exploring ways to worship God through dance and movement.
  • Students will be encouraged to work in small groups experimenting with their own choreography.
  • We will also work on a piece to present at the end of week.
